Sonic was chosen as the new brand name since it represented speed and flight…tune up skates faster, fly by the cyclists, skate faster, skate better. George Yu, architect and hockey player, was hired to design the first Sonic logo. The iconic flying skater is still depicted on Sonic packaging today.
